As the 2023 general elections hold on Saturday 25 February and 11 March, the Imo State Labour Party aspirant, Maj. Gen. Lincoln Ogunewe (Retired) has urged citizens to come out en-masse and cast their votes for all Labour Party candidates.
Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, the security expert said that this is the time for citizens to change the bad leadership they complain about and bring onboard the kind of governance/leadership they desire. He noted that the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has all it takes to birth the new Nigeria that makes everybody a stakeholder in the Nigeria project.
The development expert, Ogunewe posited that citizens need to understand that their votes are their power, adding that they stand the position of the decision makers come Saturday 25 February and 11 March by changing the narrative of governance in the country.
He hinted that the political decision of the citizens determine to greater extent the economic welfare, wellbeing and livelihood of the citizens, stressing that, the voters must not fight but choose a candidate of their choice in a violent free atmosphere, especially those whose manifestos are realistic and achievable.
He said that when good leadership is enthroned, the economic growth of the country will be assured, insisting that bad officials are elected by good citizens who don’t vote.
He called on electorate not to release results indiscriminately but to rely on the electoral umpire that is authorized to announce election results.
