2023: Peter Obi makes promises as he visits Mbaise nation

By Prince Eze

The top contender for the 2023 presidency and presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi on Thursday visited the Mbaise nation of Imo State.

Obi whose visit to Mbaise nation is part of his ongoing engagements and consultations with various parts of the country, was taken round some areas in Mbaise by an Mbaise son and Federal House of Representatives candidate for LP, Ambassador Ifeanyi Darlington Amaechi.

The Labour Party presidential candidate visited Ahiara Junction in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA where the famous Ahiara Declaration took place, as well and Aboh Junction in Aboh Mbaise LGA. He used the opportunity to see the state of road infrastructure among others in the area.

Obi during the brief visit to Mbaise discussed with Amb. Amaechi on keys areas of interest and promised to handle them when he becomes the president of Nigeria.

He made promises in key areas, which include turning the old Ahiara Technical College into a full-fledged Polytechnic, rebuilding the Umunwanwa Bridge linking Imo and Abia States.

The Labour Party presidential candidate also agreed to build a Unity Museum at Ahiara to commemorate the Ahiara Declaration as well as fixing the deplorable road infrastructure in Mbaise.

Obi equally promised to turn Mbaise into an economic hub due to its location in the Eastern Heartland, adding that women and youths empowerment will be uppermost in his agenda for the people.

He urged the people of Mbaise to support Labour Party in the forthcoming election, especially their national assembly candidates to help make the new Nigeria a reality.

Speaking to our reporter, Amb. Amaechi who led the Labour Party presidential candidate to Mbaise said Mr Obi deserves the support of every Mbaise, Imo and Nigeria voter because he clearly is the only man with a vision of the new Nigeria.

Amaechi said he is happy that Obi has promised to make Mbaise an economic hub in the South East, adding that he also has plans to rebuild some of the major markets in his federal Constituency to a modern state if elected.

Obi earlier during the visit to Imo had visited the Naze Timber Market, Alaba Spareparts Market and held a Town Hall meeting at Landmark Events Centre all in Owerri.

His visit to the popular Nkwo Mbaise Market was curious short due to his tight flight schedule out of the state.
