Imo State chapter of the Social Democratic Party, SDP has denied any involvement in the rumoured adoption of Peter Obi as her candidate for the 2023 presidency.
In a release, Imo SDP Chairman, Prince Marshall Okaforanyanwu told newsmen that the party at either the national or state level has ever adopted Labour Party presidential candidate or any other candidate from another party as it’s favoured candidate for the general election.
Imo SDP said it disassociates the party from any rumoured endorsement of the Labour Party presidential candidate alongside six other parties in the state.
Okaforanyanwu stated that SDP has one of the leading presidential candidates in the 2023 election in the person of Adewale Adebayo, urging party members and supporters to discountenance such unwarranted report from the rumour mills.
“The rumour is mere tissue of lies and baseless propaganda aimed at causing distractions by mischief makers.
“Maybe, the purveyors of these lies are already afraid of the candidates that SDP is fielding for the general election across all cadres from the House of Assembly to the national assembly.
“I don’t think these amateur propagandists know that no state chapter of a political party can endorse a presidential candidate except from the national leadership of the party.
“I urge everyone to jettison these baseless and lifeless rumours that are not even worth people’s time.”, the Imo SDP Chairman stated.
