Worried by the level of anti social vices in Nigerian society occasioned by unemployment, Imo State Government (IMSG) through her Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Lady Ann Dozie have advised Nigerian youths mostly among her graduates to enhance their productivity by acquiring skills before, within or after their academic certificates.
Dozie stated this as she ably represented Senator Hope Uzodimma of Imo State at the passing out ceremony of the eighteenth batch of participants of the training programme for Imo youths on Solar Installation and Maintenance organized by the National Leader of Hope Rising For Imolites, Chief Success Akagburuonye at the Organisation’s National Secretariat Ogbor Uvuru in Aboh Mbaise Local government area.
According to her ” to raise responsible and less dependent Future Leaders in Nigeria, it is imperative for the youths to be encouraged in skills acquisition”,
Dozie who described Senator Uzodimma as youth friendly Governor pointed out that it’s a rare privilege to find a man who is so passionate and committed in addressing the rising youth unemployment situation and crime, making them engage in meaningful ventures as well as instilling unity of purpose and a sense of patriotism in them.
She expressed joy that the training is gender neutral and advised the beneficiaries especially the female’s among them to take advantage of the skill they had acquired to improve on their future and that of the State.
The Commissioner further reaffirmed the state government’s resolve to invest in the youth who she insisted were agents of positive change and assured Chief Akagburuonye of the Shared Prosperity and 3 R administrative mantra’s continued partnership in ensuring that Imo youths were gainfully engaged.
Earlier in his speech, the National Leader of Hope Rising For Imolites, Chief Success Obioma Akagburuonye called on Imo youths to eschew the mentality of white collar jobs and venture into skills acquisition for posterity sake and thanked God for giving him the enabling grace in using his God given resources to touch lives.
He expressed joy that some of the beneficiaries of the training are now deeply involved in handling multi million Naira solar installation contracts and they are sincerely happy and grateful as they deliver.
The National Leader of Hope rising for Imolites and the philanthropic facilitator of the programme passionately advised the participants to be humble, dedicated as well as to always place God at the center of their lives so as to enable Him direct their paths in life.
Chief Akagburuonye also reiterated his appeal to the state government to establish solar stations across the 27 local government areas to sustain the training project, create employment opportunities and enhance power supply.
Adding her voice in the well attended occasion, one of the House of Representatives aspirant for Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency under the APC political platform and an American trained Nurse with over 20 years experiences, Lady Justina Kamalu identified skill acquisition as the bedrock of technological break through of a every nation and stressed the need for Imo youths to imbibe the spirits of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Kamalu who based in Atlanta Georgia described Chief Akagburuonye as a rare gift to the state and humanity and further lauded him for his passion towards reducing the rates of unemployment, crime and total reliance on government adding that the training programme would help reshape the thinking and mindset of the youth.
The Eziudo Okwuato in Abor Mbaise council area of Imo State born political Amazon further lamented bitterly on deplorable state of her Federal constituency in terms of infrastructural developments, poverty, unemployment, social vices and transformations alleging lack of quality and effective representation by her previous representatives which she disclosed as a tonic that instigated her motivation for the political aspiration.
Also speaking,the immediate past Senior Special Adviser to Imo State Governor on Social Development and Humanitarian Services, Princess Calista Anene who sponsored over thirty youths from her area, Oguta LGA to the programme said that the essential of skill acquisition in present day Nigeria can be likened to the relevance of water to human body
Anene who was a frontline aspirant for Oguta state constituency in the just concluded Imo State primaries of APC affirmed that many successful business men and women in the world today are self employed.
She praised Chief Akagburuonye and Governor Uzodimma for being the instruments of blessings in teaching Imo Youths on the need for being employers of labour instead of being job seekers.
Some of the participants like Mr Sunday Irogboli, Kingsley Chikezie, Apostle Timothy Onyema, Chibueze Dickson, Emmanuel Nwaete, and Christable Onyinyechi Mazi. Others include Godstime Chukwukwado expressed gratitude to Chief Akagburuonye who’s popularly known as AkaraUgo na Mbaise for giving them a sense of belonging and great opportunities to survive in this present socioeconomic crunch.
The highlights of the occasion was presentation of certificate of certification to the graduands by the Governor’s representative together with the distinguished guests that attended the heart gladden occasion.
