Senator Anyanwu’s mother, Virginia Anyanwu bags Catholic Award of “Odi Uko N’mba”

By NewsHour Reporter

Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has rewarded students of various schools wish cash prizes for winning in the just concluded table tennis champions competition participated by Secondary schools in Imo State.

Anyanwu who sponsored the competition in collaboration with the Sports Writers Association (SWAN), Imo state chapter.

Represented by the Director General of Divine Mandate Movement (DMM), Prof Protus Nathan Uzoma, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Anyanwu commended SWAN led by Mr. Everest Ezihe in the state for organizing the event, describing it as a good talent hunt.

He expressed delight how the younger ones are getting involved in programmes capable of uniting the state as well as keeping them reasonably busy, enjoined others yet to be involved to see the need to be relevant in the society through sports.

According to Prof Uzoma, if kidnappers, armed robbers and prostitutes were captured on time as Senator Anyanwu is willing to identify them now, perhaps they would not have indulged themselves in criminalities and other social vices.

While describing the sponsor, Senator Anyanwu as a man with multi-various capacities, maintained that what distinguishes him from other politicians was his exceptional belief in social order and rule of law.

Prof Uzoma also stressed the need for all stakeholders to invest on the younger ones, pointing out that the only thing that develops the society speedily was the adoption of the youths in the leadership of the state.

He therefore urged the winners not to be discouraged over the current poor economic situation in the country, also encouraged them to be focused, courageous and dedicated in the pursuit of their dreams through sports.

Meanwhile, the event had in the senior category, the first and second positions obtained by Government Secondary School, Owerri, while Holy Ghost College, Owerri went home with third position.
