… Nwachukwu, says her eyes is on the ball to uplift the school

As nature abhors vacuum and to ensure effective administration , the Governing Council of Senator Benjamin Uwajimogu College of Education, Ihitte Uboma in Imo State led by HRH Eze Dr. Oliver Ohanweh (Obi Gburu Gburu) has appointed Dr. Mrs Chinyere Nwachukwu, as the Acting Provost of the institution.
Eze Ohanweh as Chairman of the institution’s Governing Council pointed out that the Council painstakingly made the appointment in good faith after due consultations with the College critical stakeholders and based on the recommendations, qualifications, experiences, contributions, due diligence, pedigree and antecedents of the Acting Provost.
The council advised the Acting Provost to be patriotic in his assigned responsibilities and to run an all inclusive administration.
Responding, shortly after the appointment.in an interactive session with Journalists, Nwachukwu who is one of the pioneer staff of the College and also the institution’s first Dean, School of General Education expressed happiness over the appointment while assuring of her willingness to pilot the affairs of the College efficiently and effectively.
According to her ” my eyes are on the ball, to strategically reposition the College to greater glory and to the envy of her contemporaries. Am on a committed mission towards revolutionization of the College to an enviable citadel of learning in South East and Nigeria at large. I am quite oblivious of the challenges before me. My first task is to improve the school’s environment and make it healthy and conducive for teaching and learning.
Am on a mandate to change the face of the institution and to make the environment look good and habitable, and as a College of Education that produces teachers, the environment should be outstanding in line with her mission and vision” she noted.
The Acting Provost further revealed her resolved to tackle with military despatch the issues of accreditation of the institution’s courses to enable more students to gain admission into the College this academic session as well as affiliation of the College with Imo State University, IMSU which she said it’s almost 80% completion.
To demonstrate her commitment towards academic excellence in the institution, Nwachukwu said that an invitation has already been extended to some staff of National Commission for Colleges of Education, NCCE, Abuja for pre- accreditation assessment visit in October this year.
The Acting Provost who holds Bachelor’s Degree in English Education of Imo State University, Owerri, Master’s in Education Management and Planning as well as Doctorate Degree in Education Management and Planning of University of Uyo said as part of her strategic plans to move the institution forward, that it will be imperative to instill sanity and discipline in the administration of the College as well as given priority attention to the workers and students welfare.
She expressed gratitude to Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration for her appointment and HRH Eze Dr. Oliver Ohanweh led Governing Council for their good intentions concerning the College while reiterating her patriotic desires in collective repositioning of the College to enviable standard.
Nwachukwu lamented that the major problem of the College is lack of funding and passionately appealed to corporate organizations, wealthy and philanthropic Imo sons and daughters to come to the aid of the institution noting that it’s impossible for the state government to fund the school alone.
