APC cheiftain,,Oguoma reveals why Tinubu must be sworn-in May 29.
Hon. Chris Oguoma is a former Interim Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress,APC Imo State, former State Secretary and Owerri Zonal Chairman of the Party. An Owere nchi ise-born successful business man and a critical stakeholder in Imo State politics.
In this interview conducted by an Imo State based journalist,Comrade Kelechi Ugo,the political arrow-head of Ndi Owere revealed why the President-elect under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress,APC must be sworn-in on 29th May,2023.
Sir,the general elections have come and gone, but the exercises are still generating a lot of controversies.
Nigerians are yet to recover from the untold hardship emanated from the cash crunch orchestrated by the Central Bank of Nigeria,CBN during and immediately after the exercises.
Let’s share your view!
Yes,the general elections have come and gone, but its tension is still wrecking harvoc in the country especially the presidential election. There were fuel scarcity and cash crunch which deadly affected every facade of our society. And there was also tension generated by the campaign promoters and political parties’ candidates. At a time, people became afraid and thought that the elections will be violence and destabilized. And the country is going to be divided.
But some of us who are active politicians knew that those things always play out during electioneering campaigns period.
Non-practising politicians began to envisage that there will be crisis, but thank God that the elections went peaceful.
I am happy that our Party,APC won majority of the elective positions including the seat of Mr. President.
We won massively and meritoriously.
We won up to 66 seats in the Senate and over 170 seats in the Federal House of Representatives.
Even in our Imo State, you can see that we won 2 senatorial seats,6 Reps seats and 99% of the Imo State House of Assembly seats.
So,our Party did well in the just concluded general elections.
Alright, this reminded me your earlier prediction of peaceful general elections during an interview with you before the general elections Of course, your prediction came to pass. Now that social media is awash with stories linking Nigerians to be warming up for interim government. Do you think that the President-elect,His Excellency,Distinguished Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not be sworn-in on 29th May,2023?
The social media is a new mode of communication where people stay at their comfort zones to publish stories that favour their personal interest and mind set for public consumption.
Most of the stories published on social media were not things that practically happened.
We should work on what our constitution says.
There is no way the President-elect will not be sworn-in on 29th May,2023. This is purely a legal issue. There will be no vacancy in government. Somebody must occupy the seat.On 28th May,2023,the serving President and Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria must have finished compiling his handover note for the smooth kick off of Tinubu’s government. Nigeria is too big to be deceived.
On 29th May,2023,at about 11am,Eagle Square,Abuja will be electrifying during the inauguration ceremony of the new brand government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It’s a convention that is enshrined by the law.
Interim national government is not possible. Nobody can take Nigeria backwards. We have past that level.
So,it’s just social media hype.
People who are bad losers refused to come to the reality that they lost election. There is nothing somebody can do about it. So, on 29th May, a new President of Nigeria in the name of His Excellency,Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be sworn-in.
Sir,your party just concluded governorship primary election for the Imo State gubernatorial election come November 11th,2023 where the serving Governor Hope Uzodimma emerged the Party’s flagbearer for his second term bid. Do you think he deserves re-election?
On 11th November,2023,Governor Hope Uzodimma will win with a wide margin.
APC has started mobilizing for his victory. And our Party is one united family. The Governor has done well in area of infrastructural development.
Imo is becoming a construction site.
Workers have been promoted and they are also receiving their salaries as at when due.
Even pensioners are receiving their pensions timely. People are no longer complaining about poor welfare of the workers.
Although,we have other opposition political parties, but they can’t challenge us. Labour Party is currently facing an endless crisis.
While PDP lost all her major stakeholders to APC.For you to think of dislodging APC,you must first of all put your house in order.
Now that the contest is for 3 zones of Imo State. Governor Uzodimma of APC is from Orlu Zone.Senator Samuel Anyanwu of PDP is from Owerri Zone.W hile Senator Athan Achonu of Labour Party is from Okigwe Zone. Don’t you think that the men from Owerri and Okigwe Zones can form alliance to unseat Uzodimma in the forthcoming guber election?
Which alliance can they form now?
Labour Party has a candidate already.
While PDP also has a guber flagbearer.
The man of Labour is blowing hot saying that he must win the election.
While the PDP man is shouting everywhere that it’s his turn to emerge the Governor.Let me tell you that we don’t have a strong opposition now.
Even the so called PDP is fragmented.
You know that Owerri Zone is the base of PDP,but it’s fragmented. The man who was the Party’s gubernatorial flagbearer in 2019 has left the Party. And his structure is totally demented. They are so angry and they are coming to APC.
Labour Party is also struggling over its ticket. They said they want an Owerri man to become the Party’s guber flagbearer.
Unfortunately, the crisis will totally destroy the Party. And I don’t see the structure capable of bringing them together. So,which party is going to stop APC?.APC remains the Party to beat.
Good governance can be determined base on level of youth empowerment.
Do you think that Uzodimma’s government has empowered Imo Youths?
Yes, Uzodimma’s government has done well in youth empowerment and development. Uzodimma’s government created Ministry of Digital Economy where some Imo youths have been technologically trained and equipped.
The Commissioner for the Digital Economy is working hard to open a digital space for the youths to strive.
It’s not all about sharing money but creating enabling environment to better the lives of the people.
Let me use this medium to call on Imo people to give APC another chance for more developmental strides.
Thank you Sir!.
