In the past few hours, the social media has been awash with news of the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, becoming the concensus candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
That notwithstanding, a segment of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party, led by the National Organizing Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, has distanced themselves from the pronouncement calling it the National Chairman’s sole decision.
He said the National Chairman only announced to them that Lawan is the concensus candidate without a prior deliberation even against the advice of the Northern Governors Forum.
Argungu, emphasised that they are for zoning the ticket to the South or nothing.
With the latest development, the party’s special convention for presidential primary, holding tomorrow is still sketchy.
