The enclave known as Ngor Okpala is by size and population one of the largest and biggest local councils in Nigeria.
Ngor Okpala occupies a strategic location in Imo State as it is the only LGA that has borders with two states – Abia and Rivers. Incidentally, the imposing people’s pride called Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport is housed in Ngor Okpala.
Equally, three out of the five sensational musical group, the Oriental Brothers International Band, were of Ngor Okpala extraction, namely Kabaka, Dansatch and Ichita. Warrior and Akwila came from Mbaise.
Remarkably, some of the brightest brains Nigeria has ever produced are from Ngor Okpala and they included First Republic parliamentarian, Nnanna Ukegbu, stock exchange guru Ndi Okereke Onyiuke and business mogul, political mathematician TOE Ekechi, among others.
However, there is one man Ngor Okpala is not in anyway proud of. He is Hon. Beke Eke. He is the member representing Aboh Mbaise, Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
As a matter of fact, Eke is everything Ngor Okpala people will never wish to have again as a representative no matter the circumstance or level. His failures are pathetic and unbearable, though they cannot bear reputation here.
Sadly, Eke who in 2015 and 2019 eulogized former governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, is currently leading the charge against the erstwhile deputy speaker of the national assembly.The federal lawmaker has become Ihedioha’s traducer number one.
The issue was that Eke lost his bid to stage a third term return to the Federal House of Representatives during the last PDP primary elections. As far as Eke was concerned, it was Ihedioha that cost him third term aspiration.
Eke does not believe that he was the major reason he failed in his failed in the PDP primary election. The lawmaker did not tell himself that his inability to fly at the Federal House was well known to all and sundry and so the delegates decided to stop him at the primary election. Ever since then, he has been going about hauling insults and abuses on the immediate past governor of Imo State.
According to the news feed, Eke, while addressing PDP ward chairmen at the instance of the national secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu otherwise known as Samddady, rather than urging them to remain faithful with the umbrella party, exploited the opportunity to lampoon as well heap insults on Ihedioha.
It was reported that Eke blamed PDP’s misfortunes since 2015 on Ihedioha. He enthused that Ihedioha’s 2019 governorship victory was done in error, brandishing the supreme court January 14, 2020 as his source.
The foregoing dramatically and absolutely signifies that Eke is an ingrate. He is a traitor. Like Judas Iscariot who betrayed his master, Jesus, Eke has stupidly decided to sell off his one time friend and boss, Ihedioha.
For Eke to be going about pointing fingers at Ihedioha as the brain behind his stunted third term national assembly dream shows he is a gutter politician not well educated on the dynamics, processes and procedures of democratic engagements. And this is obviously a part of the reasons Aboh Mbaise, Ngor Okpala PDP delegates rejected him in the last primary elections.
It is scandalous and ridiculous that Eke who rode freely on the back of Ihedioha for Federal House election in 2015 and a re – election in 2019, is now singing a new jagged song.
With this senseless act, Eke has joined the league of those who blackmailed, stabbed and betrayed the fingers that fed them. One common factor among traitors is, they don’t last the distance.
The tale Eke told to the PDP chairmen was that, with Ihedioha, the party was headed for the rocks in the 2023 governorship election in Imo State. What a shame. The reality is the opposite: without Ihedioha, the PDP in Imo would have vanished long time ago. Or, with Ihedioha, the PDP is dreaded, feared and respected in Imo State.
It is unfortunate that Eke is notoriously fulfilling the wicked lines toed by Shakespeare’s Brutus who provided the last cuts that expired his friend, Cesar. But he has been missing both his links and targets. All his jabs and stabs on Ihedioha have so far been feeble, worthless and miserable.
That Ihedioha is seeking to be returned as Imo State governor is not a crime, not a sin and not an offence in anyway. It is his constitutional rights. It is for the PDP delegates to stop or vote him at the primary election. Or the Imo State electorate to shun or pass him at the main election. It is not the function of a failed national lawmaker like Eke to be fooling himself about with.
Election is for anybody who thinks he is qualified to indicate his interest for such purpose, for a particular office and then the voters will make their choice.
The one Eke is now supporting, Samddady who boasted he had never failed election in his life crashed abysmally in 2019. He failed to capture Imo State PDP structure – and this is the primary factor why Eke and his baby army are mad at Ihedioha. Not too long ago, Samddady, backed by Eke went to the PDP national headquarters, Abuja, seeking to dissolve the Imo State executives of the party but failed. This is a clear indication that Eke and his Samddady – led gangsters are poised and really fashioned out for failures. All their movements are constructed to crash.
In fact, Aboh Mbaise, Ngor Okpala masses should call Eke to order, asking him if this his Ihedioha – phobia is a part of the grounds he was sent to the Green Chamber.
Bede Eke should rescue himself from the insanities of hall of shame before it is too late. He can still, like the biblical Prodigal Son, come back to Ihedioha and ask for forgiveness. Else…
