OWERRI, March 27, (Newshour.com.ng) – Two Personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Imo State have been killed by yet to be identified gunmen at the early hour of Monday March 27, 2023.
Information available to this medium indicates that the incident happened at Ekeisu market Obiangwu, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, where the slain corps were ambushed and killed by their attackers in the early hours of Monday.
According to Channels Television, the state spokesman for the corps, Chimeziri Noel, said as part of the primary assignment and mandate of the agency, the officers were on routine monitoring of some critical national assets and infrastructure in the area when the incident occurred.
The incident has been confirmed by the Imo State Command of the NSCDC
Noel said the NSCDC officers were attacked and killed by bandits in the early hours of Monday, adding that their bodies had been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri.
The spokesman noted that security has been beefed up in the area
According to him, while an investigation has kicked off into the unfortunate incident, the command with the assistance of other security agencies has activated a search team to go after the hoodlums.
