The First Executive Governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo has declared that there is an unwritten zoning formula in Enugu State for Governorship position and vowed to oppose the exalted position if it is zoned to his Local Government Area for equity and fairness.
Nwobodo, who hails from Enugu South Local Government Area in Enugu East Senatorial Zone, spoke yesterday while reacting to allegations making the rounds that he has endorsed a retired permanent secretary in the Federal Ministry, Chinyeaka Oha.
” I read with utter dismay, the wicked misrepresentation of my private visit to Chinyeaka Oha”s residence in Enugu. Before accepting his invitation, I gave him a condition that it must be a private visit and I made it absolutely clear that I was not coming to discuss his governorship ambition.
“But for me to read some publications saying I went to endorse Chinyeaka or that my prayer centered on his political ambition, is mischievous and a betrayal of our mutual agreement of condition of my visit.
“My position on Nkanu East has not changed and my visit to Chinyeaka Oha”s new home has nothing to do with my support for Nkanu East to produce the next governor” he stated.
Nwobodo noted that there is an unwritten zoning formula in Enugu for the governorship position, saying after the two zones, Enugu North and Enugu West produced governors, it is now the turn of Enugu East Senatorial Zone and Nkanu East local government area in particular to produce the governor.
He reaffirmed his position that Nkanu East should produce the next governor in the 2023 general election, saying his position was based on fairness and equity.
