July 19 (Newshour.com.ng) – The Evette Institute of catering, hotels management and fashion designing has been rated topmost in Skills Training and Acquisition in Nigeria.
The General Manager of Evette Institute, Mr Kelechi Anyanwu stated this while addressing Journalist in his office at Umuguma in Owerri West LGA of Imo state, recently.
Mr Kelechi Anyanwu a graduate of Imo state University, Owerri said Evette Institute is a sort after institute as hotels, employers of labour have been coming to the school during graduation ceremonies to employ young graduands because of the thorough and excellent trainings the students have been getting. He noted that during the world tourism day, organized by the Imo state arts and culture, the institute after exhibition of their products publicly got first position and was given the best merit award from the Imo state government.
Mr Anyanwu noted that the institute trains all categories of people both old and young , graduates and undergraduates, adding that the institute provides opportunity for people to learn and acquire skills despite one’s qualification.
“What we do, we train our students both old and young, we provide opportunities for you to learn skills despite your qualification” he stated.
Stating further, he said they train people on how to cook different kinds of dishes, teach how to make both male and female garments, breed event decorators and managers and how to do make-ups, adding that they admit and have students across every state of Nigeria.
” The institute which started 35 years ago has trained responsible citizens who are doing well in their various fields of human endeavours and we have received accolades from parents and guardians.”
Anyanwu who expressed his happiness over the happenings in the school, said they gain students through referrals from past and present students because of the good works they are doing and the high moral / ethical standards the institute adopted and are enforcing..
He said, indecent dressings, fighting, using phones during lectures and other bad behaviours are highly prohibited within the school premises and anyone caught in such amoral attitudes or Ill-mannered attitudes will be suspended and we have maintained it over the years.
” The institute whose motto is developing excellence in skills, cannot graduate anyone without being found worthy in character and in learning”.
The GM who explained that the school is well equipped for skills training, calls on Nigerian youths to go and acquire skills so as to survive the current economic realities of this 21st century.
*Like I tell people, skills are actually the main thing now, I graduated from Imo state university with Bsc and Msc degrees but I”m now handling catering related institute. The time for white collar jobs are over, anything your hand can do is where money is and I’m telling our youths that skills are important as it can never be removed from you by anyone,” he advised.
The Eastern lead Express newspaper reporter who went round the school premises on inspection and sight seeing gathered that the institute is well equipped with state of the arts equipment, has qualified teachers and a serene learning environment.
