Ex-Imo MAMSER director, Osuji partners with govt on tourism

Former Imo State Director of MAMSER and Executive Director of Opinion Research and Communication Inc., Dr. Chuks Osuji, OON, FNIPR, seek to partner with the Ministry of Tourism on the growth of the industry.
Osuji stated this Thursday, January 27, 2022 when the Commissioner for Tourism, Hon. Dr. Uche Ohia and his team paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Owerri.
Addressing the team, Osuji commended the Commissioner, saying, “I would have taken the lead to pay you a courtesy call on your appointment, but due to your liberal disposition, you volunteered to do so with your team. This goes a long way to confirm people’s opinion on your being a man with deep sense of humility and respect. I appaul you for that”.
Osuji describing his establishment as a consortium of Public Relations, Public Opinion, Communications and Public Education Professionals that focuses on helping many organizations in maintaining, improving and sustaining their corporate image. He drew the attention of the Commissioner to their willingness in joining forces with them to improve the activities of tourism in Owerri, the state capital.
Suggesting that they should be allowed to organize a 2-day seminar to expose hotel owners and managers to other management techniques, Osuji recalled how his establishment made the state capital to become an attractive centre through the way they provided image laundering services for Concord Hotel when it was established in 1980/1982.
He pointed out that the hotel continued to enjoy popularity until the military intervention in 1984 interrupted it.
The PR guru noted that the image attained by the hotel continued to attract establishment of numerous hotels, restaurants and club houses which today made the state to become famous in tourist activities.
Osuji further continued that there was need for more seminars and workshops to be organized, contending that due to the inadequacies and security concerns caused by hoodlums, agitators and the unknown gunmen, among others, the operational sequence of the tourist industry in the state has been affected.
Responding, the Commissioner, Ohia appreciated Osuji for being a role model and for all his efforts in ensuring that the tourist industry in the state is thriving.
He averred that they are not relenting in ensuring that the sector thrives, adding that they are partnering with diverse agencies; media houses, private organizations, amongst others to ensure it.
He invited Osuji to feel free to partner with them in any manner he deems fit, stating that the State government is very interested in the progress of the industry.
