July 10 (Newshour.com.ng) – There was amusement and celebration as The Good Kiddies World of Entertainment, championed by Mrs. Chioma Anyanwu, (Eziada Golden Mother) organized competition for children from various primary and secondary schools in Imo State who exhibited their talents with their mates in cultural values such as Dancing, Ilu Igbo (proverb), Traditional Outfits, Drama, Mgba among others.
The event took place at Imo State Council for Arts and Culture, Mbari Complex, Owerri, last week.
Speaking with journalists, Associate Prof. Chris Nwaru, noted that the cultural fiesta was organized to develop cultural values and talents in children for them to see their culture as the way of life, know their custom, tradition, social welfare, know how to dress, how to talk, how to greet and so on.
The Head of Theatre Arts Department, Imo State University, Owerri and Chairman of the occasion, added that it is better to catch them young and inculcate the culture of the land into them to enable them grow to become more valuable and well cultured.
According to Nwaru, “many youths have gone astray by borrowing foreign culture, the kind of movies they watch, they sag, boys wearing earnings, behaving sheepishly and such anomalies should be put to stop, that is why I so much appreciate Chioma Anyanwu for initiating this event as it helps in shaping the youth, as well as restore the lost culture. I really commend her for her efforts and I am using this medium to urge the Imo State government to partner with her to achieve more greatness for a better tomorrow”.
Also speaking, Prince Iheayichukwu Uzomba added that leaders and builders of tomorrow are the children, hence, “let us join hands together to rehabilitate our culture. I am delighted with the Golden Mother who organized this memorable event, if she can do this a lone, if government comes in it will be a big boost, I am charging the government to partner with Lady Chioma in the next edition of such a wonderful exhibition”.
Just as the President of All Entertainers in Imo State, Mr. Ero – Say, promised to support the cultural exhibition, saying he will bring one of his concepts in the next edition, as he advised the government to partner with the organizers to promote the project.
The highpoint of the event was a giant gift to the best performed schools, take- home gifts, as well as thank- you for coming-gifts such as gas cooker, westbasket, bags of tissues, buckets, rapas, variety of writing matirals and many more meaningful gifts.
