Ignore sit-at-home order, Ohaneze chieftain urges Igbos in Lagos

March 30, (Newshour.com.ng) – Igbo residents in Lagos have been urged to shun calls directing them to observe a sit-at-home order in the state, in the South-East or anywhere in Nigeria.
The call to ignore the order was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by a chieftain of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in the 2019 election, Charles Udeogaranya.
The appeal is coming in the wake of Tuesday’s tweet by Simon Ekpa, a self acclaimed disciple of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, asking indigenes of South-East Nigeria who are resident in Lagos, to observe a sit-at-home exercise over an alleged attack on them.
Reacting to the order in a statement on Wednesday, the politician warned that it is “crass madness” for someone who goes about his business and fending for his family in far away Finland in Europe, to instruct his kinsmen to go for a senseless sit-at-home exercise.
A livid Udeogaranya wondered how Ekpa, who was earlier arrested three weeks ago by Finland Police authorities, expect the average Igbo resident in Lagos to fend for themselves when they constantly start observing the sit-at-home dictate.
“Even God, Our creator, who we worship, admonished us to work six days a week and rest on the seventh day for his worship. Therefore, no devil can issue a counter order to what God has instructed us to adhere to.
“We have many acceptable channels of seeking redress on any issue without resorting to a devilish, wicked, crude and malicious self-centered and self-destructive sit-at-home exercise. That is why I commend those who have already filled various petitions to various quarters, including the International Criminal Court, seeking redress,” he said
