Interstate State Journalists for Democracy and Development (IJDD) has tasked Nigerians in the diaspora to invest their resources at home for the socio- economic development of the country.
The president of the organization, Mr Emmanuel Chukwu who spoke over the weekend tasked Nigerians living in Europe and America to repatriate their wealth home and develop the country
He advised them to invest mainly in the agricultural sector of the economy, which he said had long beer neglected by governments.
The IJDD leader described agriculture as the chief driver of any nation with arable land and man power.
The organization said those Nigerians living outside Africa should leverage on the background of their host countries to develop the agricultural sector by bringing in equipment and inputs.
The organization pointed out that at a time in world history when food shortage is starring Africa in the face, it has become very necessary to encourage food production to check impending starvation and to engage the teeming unemployed youths roaming the streets in search of non existent jobs.
IJDD president decried the lip service paid to agriculture by Nigerian leaders who only focused on oil revenue for the running of government.
In addition, he reminded Nigerian Diasporas to consider investing in livestock production like cattle rearing, fishery and poultry.
The IJDD president lamented a situation where those living in Europe and America forgot the importance of encouraging the industrial development of the country, but rather chose to send home expensive automobiles into the country, which were not adding any value to the economy.
They stressed the need to join hands to establish such industries for the economic prosperity of Nigeria, explaining that the current situation where elites at home have no regard for the development of agrarian economy is responsible for youth restiveness and yahoo, yahoo which threaten the real development of Nigeria.
