Contrary to the order given by the Inspector General Police not to allow arms and ammunitions closer to polling units, the Imo Deputy governor, Professor Placid Njoku brought in Armoured personnel carrier and armed police men into Amaimo ward in Ikeduriu local government area of Imo state to intimidate voters and force them to vote for the All Progressives Congress APC.
The situation got bad yesterday that the attention of the PDP national secretary, Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu was drawn to quench the ugly situation but it got worse leading to voters aparthy and manipulation of results by the ruling APC.
Speaking to newsmen during the elections, the house of assembly candidate of labour party for Ikeduru state constituency, Engr. Sir Chuks Anaele said the Imo Deputy governor, Professor Placid Njoku came to Amaimo ward with Armoured personnel carrier and armed policemen to intimidate voters and rig elections in favour of the ruling APC. He said, the deputy governor was seen buying votes from booth 001 to booth 026 in Amaimo ward, a situation the candidate condemned seriously; adding that the Imo Deputy governor who earns over #15millon naira per month, should have use his resources to bring dividends of democracy to his people instead of violence and intimidation.
Engr Anaele called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to review the votes coming from the Amaimo ward in Ikeduriu local government area for it was rigged and manipulated .
