April 25 (Newshour.com.ng) – As PDP intensifies campaign for the November 11 2023 governorship election in Imo State, the party’s candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has vowed that to defeat Governor Hope Uzodimma in the gubernatorial poll.
Sen. Anyanwu hinted that he is very keen and committed to win the governorship election because PDP is formidably strong, prepared, ready and has all it takes to reclaim Douglas House which he frowned was taken from the party through the back door by the APC.
Addressing PDP leaders at the party’s secretariat Owerri on Tuesday, Sen. Anyanwu boasted that he is the most qualified person capable of recovering Imo and making the state a safe haven for all law abiding persons irrespective of social status, age or religion.
He observed with dismay that Imo is fraught with underdevelopment, hardship and insecurity, alleging that the ruling party is ruling the state with brute force.
Samdaddy told Orlu, Okigwe and Owerri people to continue to support the PDP in order to mitigate their problems and sufferings which he regretted are caused by incompetence, bad governance, corruption and greed, querying the ruling party why insecurity and hunger are bedeviling the state.
“We are going to make Imo safe again. Uzodimma is the chief security officer of Imo State. He comes from Orlu Zone and yet five local government areas of the zone are bedeviled with insecurity with boys deserting their areas, women and old men living in despair. Those PDP members who left and joined APC are failures, they have no electoral value. I’m happy that they left. We celebrate their exit. PDP is solidly structured and we fear nothing. PDP is popular”, Anyanwu maintained.
He affirmed that “I will win this election for PDP. I do not have the history of failure of loosing elections. No body is in Douglas House. I know the antics of the ruling party and I will dislodge them. If Hope Uzodimma is popular as he claims, why is he bribing people to join APC, paying Imo Elders Council to change the Governorship Charter of Equity to his favor, paying people to endorse his candidacy with public found”, He posited.
Meanwhile, the party leaders had unanimously passed a vote of confidence on its governorship candidate for selecting the former House of Reps member, Rt. Hon. Jones Onyeriri, as his running mate.
