Dec. 5 (News Hour – The Imo State House of Assembly on Thursday, November 30, 2023 inaugurated the Standing Committee on Judiciary and Information.
The Committee, which is made of eminent legislators, is headed by the Member representing Oru West State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Dominic Ezerioha.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Hon. Ezerioha , charged Committee members to step up activities that would ensure the Judiciary is taken seriously.
Rolling out his programs, he stated that their first point of call would be to pay a visit to the chairman of magistrates and of lower courts in the states and know their problems
He further pointed out that the regulation of information is a key to effective legislations, noting that it would ensure balance and that reportage.
He maintained that the committee would looked into the lIBC laws, and reformed it for effective performance.
According to him, on the spot investigation to all the high Courts and the Customary Courts of Appeal will be effective tools that would be deployed in making our legislative business committee a success.
Other members of the Committee include Hon. Kennedy Ibeh, Member representing Obowo State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Ikenna Ihezue, Member representing Orlu State Constituency and Hon. Chisom Ojukwu, Member representing Nkwerre State Constituency.
