August 15 (Newshour.com.ng) – Imo Christian Youths for Peace Initiative has kicked off awareness campaign on returning peace in Nigeria.
The peace campaign awareness gathering held at Rockview Hotel, Owerri, Imo State over the weekend in commemoration of 2023 edition of International Youth Day.
The event attracted critical youth stakeholders, musicians and journalists who represented different media platforms.
In his address,Barr. Oluchukwu Nnabugwu who is the Convener of the movement described Imo Christian Youths for Peace Initiative,ICYI as a faith-based organization founded and focused on the mandate of mobilizing and engaging Imo youths in propagation of peace through meaningful and strategic programmes and projects for sustainable development of the State.
He stated that Imo Christian Youths for Peace Initiative is affiliated to relevant youth bodies and networks both locally, nationally and globally for exchange of ideas, experiences, innovations as well as collaborating to champion the noble course of peace propagation.
According to him,”at the core of every time,unrest ,insurgence and public disturbances(at any level of the society) are the youths.
The youths are the soul of any nation/society. Their passion, energy and skills when mobilized and engaged can drive and shape the destiny of the people. The youths are no doubt, the real deal in nation building and development and as such, must be properly mainstreamed and collaborated with in building a progressive and prosperous society”.
Barr. Nnabugwu further stated that security is everybody’s concern calling on Government and well-meaning individuals to join the peace awareness campaign so as to return peace to Imo State and Nigeria in general.
