Vacancy! Vacancy!! Vancancy!!! The Hungry Man Restaurant, Owerri

From Everest Ezihe, Isinweke

Following tremendous improvement in infrastructural, managerial and academic excellence achieved by the Governing Council and management of Imo State College of Education, Ihitte Uboma ( aka Senator Benjamin Uwajimogu College of Education) barely 5 months of their assumption of office, HRH Eze Dr. Oliver Ohanwe has gladly assured that the educational institution have realistically come to stay.

Eze Ohanwe who’s the Chairman of the institution’s Governing Council disclosed this on Friday while addressing the press shortly after the Council’s well attended meeting held at the Institution’s Governing Council mini conference Hall.

According to the Chairman, “the council and the general publics are overwhelmed with the extent of infrastructural, managerial and educational improvement been witnessed in the educational institution. Kudos must be given to Governor Hope Uzodimma and his Shared Prosperity and 3 R administrative mantras for their unflinching commitments in the growth and advancement of education in Imo State and the College of Education in particular” .

He pointed out that Governor Uzodimma has demonstrated special interest in the overall development of the State College of Education even as he commended the council members and the management led by Dr. Mrs Chinyere Nwachukwu, the Acting Provost for their unity of purpose, patriotism and sacrifices towards the upliftment of the tertiary institution.

Eze Ohanwe popularly known as Obi Gburugburu informed that on their appointment as members of the Governing Council of the College of Education, that what they saw as an institution of higher learning was a mere glorified secondary school, poor infrastructures, dirty and hazardous environment, demoralized work force, managerial bickering and wranglings, few students intake, insufficient administrative and classroom buildings, a hopelessness institution, among the litanies of other limitations that confronted the Institution.

The Chairman expressed satisfaction, that today, the woes of narratives of the institution have progressively changed for better.

This he attributed to the tremendous assistance and encouragement from Governor Uzodimma, diligent and prudent administrative acumen of the Acting Provost, Dr. Mrs. Chinyere Nwachukwu and her team as well as the patriotic experiences and visionary leadership of members of the Governing Council.

According to him ” the College of Education now enjoys clean and serene environment, most of the buildings rehabilitated and repainted, tremendous increase in students enrollment, provisional accreditation to run 49 courses, high quality of learning, all workers due for confirmation since inception of the college have been confirmed. The school is about 70% ready for accreditation by National Council of Colleges of Education, NCCE and visitations of other educational regulatory agencies, installation of electricity facilities among others” he assured.

Eze Ohanwe reiterated the resolve and commitments of the Council members as well as the management team not to relent in their efforts of making the institution a world-class academic institution.

Among those who attended the crucial meeting include,  Prof. A. O Unanma, Prof. P. A Anyanwu, Rev. Dr. Philip Nwansi, Rev. Fr. Dr. John Enyinnaya, Dr. Mrs. Chinyere M. Nwachukwu, Barr. Mrs. Chinyere Ibe and Dr. Mrs. Iheanachi B. I.

Others include; Mr. James Onyemachara, Hon. Santos Egbo, Mr. Uchechukwu Igboanusi and Mrs. Uchechi Chijioke Soroibe among others.
