May 16 (Newshour.com.ng) – As November 11, Imo State governorship election draws closer, the Imo PDP Critical Stakeholders have urged the Acting National Chairman of the party to swapped the Imo PDP governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu with his running mate, Rt. Hon. Jones Onyeriri.and claimed that Rt. Hon. Jones Onyeriri, his running mate is more on the ground, more mature and more more acceptable to the masses than the governorship candidate, Senator Anyanwu.
The group stated this in a letter titled ” Urgent Need to Swap Imo PDP running mate with the governorship candidate for the November 11, 2023 election” and signed by Chief Eric Ofodirinwa (Mmanwu Awo) For and on behalf of Critical Stakeholders, Imo State PDP to the Acting National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and revealed that since the emergency of Senator Anyanwu as candidate of the party, that members have been leaving the party in droves. According to them former and serving National Assembly members – including Rt. Hon. Jerry Alagboso, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, Rt Hon Bede Eke, Hon Ikenna Elezieany have exited the party.

Sir,
Urgent Need to Swap Imo PDP running mate with the governorship candidate for the November 11, 2023 election
Whereas, we the Imo PDP Critical Stakeholders, being the soul and engine room of our great party in the state, have continued to play the diligent role of guiding the party to greatness and greater glory, for electoral successes and victories;
Whereas, we have rightly observed critical, as well sensitive unhealthy developments since after the Imo State PDP governorship primary election – issues that will technically, and tactically undermine our towering party into the gutter of inanity if not appropriately handled.
Subsequently, we have painfully observed that since the emergence of Distinguished Senator Samuel Anyanwu (otherwise known as Samddady) as the candidate of our party for the November 11, 2023 election, our members have been leaving the party in droves. Former and serving National Assembly members – including Rt. Hon. Jerry Alagboso, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, Rt Hon Bede Eke, Hon Ikenna Elezieanya – have exited and are continuing to exit the umbrella party and even calling for its squashing. Party leaders such as Chief Emma Nwaogu tens of other party officers across the wards and LGAs in the state have also left our party for other parties. These inglorious moves cast our great party in laughable colours.
Since the emergence of Samdaddy, our members at the grassroots have also been quiting the party in their numbers, without any attempt being made by the PDP governorship ticket holder to stop them and convince opponents from other parties to join PDP. This is not only injurious to our manifest ambition of regaining the Imo State Government House in the November election, it is equally an embarrassing assault on our image, integrity and well being as the foremost political party in Nigeria.
In view of the foregoing, we urgently and immediately call for the swapping of the Imo PDP governorship candidate, Sen Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu with the deputy governorship candidate, Rt Hon (Dr) Jones Chukwudi Onyereri, in the forthcoming election.
Our demand is based on the fact that all those leaving the party have avowedly insisted that they do not have any iota of confidence in Senator Samuel Anyanwu’s capacity to win the November gubernatorial election for PDP. They also contend that he lacks the competence, swag and character to navigate the PDP to victory in that election.
On the other hand we have observed with dignified respect that the running mate, Rt. Hon Jones C. Onyereri is more on the ground, more mature and more acceptable to the masses than Senator Anyanwu.
Our prayer is made in good faith and the overall interest of the party and for the purposes of achieving victory for the party, returning PDP to the Imo government house and thus bringing smiles once again to Imolites through the November 11, 2023 governorship election.
Signed
Chief Eric Ofodirinwa (Mmanwu Awo)
For & on behalf of Critical Stakeholders, Imo State PDP.
May 16, 2023.
