It is on record that Labour Party overwhelmingly won the presidential and national assembly elections in Imo State irrespective of the struggle the state government made to see that such feat did not see the light of the day.
In this tremendous achievement, the masses are the most fascinating of all that took place. They were gallant; selfless and sincere mobilization agents. They sacrificed the instantaneous rewards of handouts to insist that the right thing was done. They also ensured that the dream of the new Nigeria project was accomplished with joy and fulfilment.
There are also few personalities that contributed to embolden the political Tsunami wave otherwise known as the Obidient Movement in Imo State. Whereas all contributors to the Imo Obidient outing should be commended and praised for thier respective wonderful actions across wards, local and governments., in all the struggle few men stood out among the pack.
Those that their contributions were prominent enough to be noticed included but not restricted to the following; Ikenga Jonjude Okere; Barr. Lebonus Agwara; Chief Martin Agbaso; Ike C. Ibe; Senator Chris Anyanwu; Chief Humphrey Anumodu and few others.
Ikenga Jonjude Okere became the most prominent and the delight of everyone through his enormously selfless contributions that emboldened the entire family of Imo Obidients.
With his very objective and strategic deployment of over 24 billboards; 50,000 posters, 60,000 postcards, dominant presence on radio through jingle for Obi-Datti and superlative social media campaigns in promotion of Mr Peter Obi with his Impact Imo Support Group, Okere was really outstanding and roundly remarkable.
It is estimated among Obidients that Ikenga Jonjude would have spent over N35 million, in the least, in his well tailored and advanced support for His Excellency Peter Gregory Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party.
Ikenga Jonjude Okere was the very first to put the Obidient structure through Impact Imo Group in Imo State the very moment Obi pulled out of the PDP presidential primary election.
Okere, who has been a renowned grassroots mobilization politician in Imo State since 2015, wasted no time in energising the 27 Local Government Areas in the state for the purposes of arousing the consciousness of the masses on the urgent need to support and mobilize for the actualization of Obi’s call for a new Nigeria.
It is important to note that Ikenga Jonjude was the only individual that was not running for any office at that time that committed his personal finance building and sustaining LP and the Obidient Movement’s structure at the grassroots.
A silent achiever, a highly principled and disciplined individual, Okere attained all those aforementioned accomplishments without any bravado.
It is therefore essential that all those who sacrificed hugely to the New Nigera Project led by Obi should be complimented based on the sincere value they added. It is their time to fly and hold thier heads high.
