Owerri April 16, (Newshour.com.ng) – An Mbaise son,Comrade Basil Ugochukwu Uche on Sunday 16th April, 2023 emerged the governorship candidate of National Rescue Movement,NRM for the forthcoming Imo State gubernatorial election.
Comrade Uche who is the candidate of the party emerged victorious at NRM State Secretariat located on the ever busy Wetheral Road,Owerri through an indirect system primary election as the delegates unanimously voted him.
The primary election Electoral Committee Chairman ,Hon. Ibeneme Edozie Godwin while returning Comrade Uche elected as the Party’s guber flagbearer maintained that the candidate has fulfilled all the requirements of their Party as well as that of the 2022 electoral act and 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
Hon. Ibeneme who is the South East Zonal Chairman of NRM boasted that their Party has the capacity to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress,APC in Imo State.
Speaking,the Imo State Chairman of NRM,Hon. Chikwe Nwachukwu insisted that NRM remains the Party that will restle power from the serving Governor Hope Uzodimma come November 11th,2023 gubernatorial election.
“We are rescuers. And we have come to rescue Imo State from a failed government. We are going to change the narrative”,the Chairman stated.
Addressing the Party faithful,Comrade Basil Ugochukwu Uche thanked the delegates for reposing confidence in him.
Comrade Uche noted that what matters now is who will lead Imo people to the “promise ” land and not all about “money bag politicians.
The youthful governorship candidate urged Imo youths to throw their weights behind him so as to enable them form their own government.
Meanwhile,the National Chairman of NRM,Hon. Isaac Udeh was present during the exercise.
