Mbaise’s moment of sadness: Ukwube gone, Alex Obi buried, and now, Ibe Ekeocha dies

By Prince Eze

As Nigerians troop out en masse on Saturday to exercise their civic obligations in the presidential and national assembly elections, the popular sentiment among Mbaise people and their leaders is in favour of peaceful, free and fair voting devoid of violence. This election is a great opportunity for the people to look inwards with reference to the challenges facing the nation and choose a President who they believe is best suited to handle the critical challenges of governance besetting the country.

The President General of Ezuruezu Mbaise, the apex socio-cultural organization in Mbaise, Barrister Cyril Anyanwu has called on the people to go out and exercise their franchise, adding that it is their constitutional right. Ezuruezu Mbaise is the apex socio-cultural organization in Mbaise.

Barrister Anyanwu, however, warned against rancour, bitternes and violence that could disrupt the peace of the Mbaise nation.

In his contribution, the President, Federation of Mbaise Media Professionals (FMMP), Comrade Eze Adiuku, appealed to politicians of Mbaise extraction to caution some of their supporters against making inflammatory statements that create tension and cause disunity among Mbaise people.

Comrade Adiuku who is also the Zonal Secretary of Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) for South East, said that politics at all time should be played with wisdom and tolerance in such a way that Mbaise will always win peace, progress, unity and development.
