NBAWF partners JSC to advance welfare of female lawyers

The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum Imo State (NBAWF) has partnered with the Executive Secretary of Judicial Service Commission Imo State (JSC), His Worship, Jennifer Uju Nwosu to advance the welfare and carreer advancement of female lawyers in Imo State.

Speaking when NBAWF paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of Judicial Service Commission JSC, the State Lead of the Forum, Chetachi Success Udeh Esq. noted that Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum is a Forum of female lawyers committed to empowering, inspiring and supporting female lawyers across Nigeria, adding that it is an arm of NBA instituted in line with the eight schedule of NBA constitution 2015 as amended in 2021.

The vibrant female lawyer, Mrs Udeh posited that membership of the Forum is open to all female Lawyers. She reiterated that the Forum addresses issues pertaining to welfare of female lawyers, creating room for efficient and impactful networking amongst colleagues. The Forum provides influential voice for the female lawyers in Nigeria and globally in terms of looks, perspectives and wide reach.

The State Lead NBAWF Mrs Udeh, stated that the NBAWF Imo State will be inaugurated on the 2nd of March, 2023. She urged the Executive Secretary of JSC to attend the grand ceremony as a special guest and support the Forum in her usual manner to enable the Forum succeed on her mandate. She appreciated His Worship, Jennifer Nwosu for the time given them to interact and urged all female lawyers in the Imo State to register with the Forum and participate in her activities accordingly. The State Lead shared the terms of reference NBAWF adding that there is a clear distinction between the mandate of NBAWF and FIDA though both comprises of female lawyers.

In her response, the Executive Secretary of Judicial Service Commission, His Worship Jennifer Uju Nwosu said that she was happy that the Forum has come alive in the State, stressing that she will give her necessary support to further the ideals of the NBAWF so that the welfare of female lawyers would be taken seriously in the State. She assured the Forum of her support, while she promised to collaborate with the forum in ensuring that issues affecting female lawyers received required attention. She urged all female lawyers to continue to network among themselves, adding that collaboration amongst female lawyers breeds development and should shun jealousy, envy and strife.
