August 6 (Newshour.com.ng) – As the euphoria of Heartland FC, Owerri bouncing back to Nigeria premier league barely one year of her relegation, is reaching crescendo, the victorious club’s General Manager, Mr Promise Nwachukwu has been appointed the Secretary of the Welfare Committee of the League Owners Association of Nigeria.
The appointment which was made by Chief Okey Kpalukwu, the Chairman Football Club Owners Association of Nigeria during their recent consultative meeting with the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) board in Abuja as Alhaji Abubakar Abubakar, the General Manager of Gombe United Football Club was made the Chairman of the Committee.
Nwachukwu’s appointment has become an issue of celebration as fans, supporters, members of the club and their associates erupted with joy and banting as the news filtered into Dan Anyiam International stadium, Owerri over the weekend.
Spontaneously, some of them started calling the ever workaholic General Manager, who’s still in Abuja as at the time of this report on phone and started congratulating him and exchanging pleasantries.
According to Chief Chijioke Emenyeonu, a die hard supporter of Heartland FC popularly known as Naze millionaires, ” am happy with Mr. Promise Nwachukwu, whom we have nicked named, son of destiny because of the feats his leadership has brought to the club.while congratulating him for given honour to the club and Imo State at large, I thanked the Football Club Owners Association of Nigeria for entrusting him with such an enormous responsibility. I am quite sure that Nwachukwu will deliver exceedingly ” he assured.
However, to further sustain smooth administration of the Association and in compliance to global best practices, the Club Owners resolved to set up other committees which include Constitution Drafting Ad-hoc Committee, the association’s General Secretary, Godwin Enakhena is appointed to head the committee with Rangers International of Enugu, Administrative Secretary Barrister Ferdinand Ogwuarua as Secretary and the Chairman of Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna, Engineer Ibrahim Dada as member.
Similarly, Akwa United FC,Uyo Chairman, Elder Paul Bassey was appointed chairman of the Publicity Committee while Godwin Enakhena is Secretary and Kumbi Titiloye of Kwara United FC is a member. Other committees include Finance with Alhaji Suleiman Umar of Doma United of Gombe as Chairman, he’s to be assisted by Plateau United Chairman, Honourable Habila Mutla as Secretary and Sunshine Stars of Akure chairman, Honorable Tunde Ogunja as member.
The association is made up of 20 football clubs playing in Nigeria organized premiership league.
