June 10 (Newshour.com.ng) – Mr. Sunday Dogonyaro, the Head Coach of Safety Spikers Volleyball Club, Abuja is optimistic of his team winning the ongoing Division 2 National Volleyball Federation League, NVFL going on in Owerri, Imo State capital despite 10 other contending teams.
Dogonyaro expressed the optimism on Friday at the indoor sporting hall of Dan Anyiam International Stadium Complex, Owerri venue of the ongoing National Division 1 & 2 Nigeria Volleyball Leagues while speaking to Sports Journalists on his assessment of the competition so far.
According to him, “it’s very true, that every team participating in the competition have prepared to win the tournament, however, you know that the end justifies the means. It’s not only how well but how far you will go that matters” he assured.
Recall that the team lost its first 2 matches and subsequently won 4 straight games, the Head Coach of the Federal Road Safety Corps team said that they are pilling up points that would help them emerged overall victory during the second phase that entails promotion and relegation of clubs.
Reminded that Life Camp Spikers,Sword × and Oluyole Spikers seems to be dominating the league, he said, “each match of the competition is becoming tough by the day but the good news is that God out of His infinity mercies is equally making them victorious at the end of each day”.
The sweat tactician rates the organization of the competition as fair in view of the low roofing of the indoor hall, complaining that any ball that hits the low roofing top is against the innocent team.
When informed that his first match today being Saturday and the sudden closing date of the week long competition will be with NAF Spikers,VC, Abuja he said, ” the match will be the mother of all the games, the Nigeria Air Force is known as Air Marshalls while we are well known and respected as Road Marshalls, certainly it’s going to be a tough and serious match, the good news is that my team will be seriously prepared for them. We can not afford to compromise victory no matter what ” he boosted.
As for there closing match with Heartland Spikers VC, Owerri, he said it point blank that he’s not loosing an iota of sleep over the match, his reasons being that the home based team has more of aged players when compared with his young enterprising players, and secondly that Heartland team must have been wore out after playing 3 tough games on Friday and lost 2.
