The people of Obizi autonomous community in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA of Imo State, have celebrated Obizi Day in grand style
The event which took place at Central School Obizi on Monday, saw dignitaries from all walks of life including notable sons and daughters of Obizi.
Speaking, President- General of Obizi, Dr. Ben Ujoatuonu disclosed that Obizi Day is a day the community living home and abroad come together to celebrate their cultural heritage.
In his wards, “this is not a new concept, but a new administration, wonderfully organized by the local organizing committee held by Engr. Obinna Owunali and his team, which resulted successfully by all standard, “his is done in every 26th of Dec. And the significant of this event is to showcase our cultural heritage and insure that our people maintain and enjoy the culture that”, sustenance.
Speaking to journalists after the event, the traditional rule of Obizi autonomous community, HRH Eze Barr. Sir. W. Obinna Azubuine Ugozie the 5th, expressed happiness over the successful event, as well as his ability to maintain peace and orderliness, adding that before one is “confirmed any title in Obizi the person must have done significant things for the people because it is by merit. We do not sell chieftaincy title, we don’t sell award is just by merit and am happy for those who were given awards today are the people who have done perfectly well in the development of the community he said.
The highpoint of the event was recognition of sons who have contributed immensely for the development of the community among which is their son inlaw, Distinguished Sen Bright Nwanne, Chief Ugochukwu Ohaji among others.
