From  Everest Ezihe, Owerri

Worried by spates of insecurities bedeviling Imo State in recent times,Major General Jack Ogunewe, rtd has proffered a critical road map to address the anti social menace in the state.

Ogunewe who was a top military brass in Nigerian Army as former Defence Adviser, Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations and Chief of Policy and Planning (Army) disclosed this in a two paged press statement that emanated from his Abuja media office and made available to news men in Owerri on Thursday.

He canvassed for round table strategic dialogue among stakeholders in the State especially between the State government and those known to be the vanguards in the acts of pepertrating insecurities in the State noting this as the best way to tackle the menace.

The Ex Military Chief pointed out that insecurity scares away investors. condemn the series of Killings in the state while suing For Peace.

According to the Ezinihitte Mbaise born military tactician”Insecurity leads to loss of jobs, loss of businesses and Los of lives.

“It does no good to the state and it stunts it’s economy and retards it’s progress.

Owerri is the entertainment hub of the Igbo race and the South East right from the days of late highlife maestro, Isreal Nwoba Njemanze” he informed.

He observed with regrets that in the recent past Imo State was noted nationally as the hospitality hub East of the Niger thus Owerri was hosting people from far and near who came at the weekends to enjoy themselves lamenting that all is being threatened now because of insecurity.

General Ogunewe further called on citizens of the State, to compliment the efforts of government to tackle insecurity in the State.

Insisting that “no war ever ends in the battlefield. We should see ourselves as brothers and sisters and come together to work for the progress and development of Imo State”.
