May 13 (Newshour.com.ng) – A frontline contender of November 11,2023 Imo State gubernatorial election under Labour Party,LP,Genera(rtd)Lincoln Ogunewe has sympathized with the family of late Capt.Tony Enoch who was assassinated by unknown gunmen.
Capt.Tony Enoch was the Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress,APC Campaign Council,Our East Local Government Area of Imo State.
A statement signed by Gen. Ogunewe read,”my heart bleeds on the assassination of my senior retired colleague Capt Tony Enoch (N6250) who was the APC Campaign Council Chairman for Oru East. My heartfelt sympathy goes to his family and friends. This is a great loss to Ndi Imo. I condemn in strongest terms the bestiality rampaging Ala Igbo & Imo State in particular. I call on all Ndi Imo to know that we are one people and how can we allow politics make us resort to jungle justice and be at each others throat rather than the negotiating table. The Imo State Government has a lead role to play in bringing all to the negotiating table knowing fully well that the principal function of Government is protection of lives and property. We live in fear, walk in fear & sleep in fear. Many, especially our mothers & grandmothers that have been relocated outside their villages are in tears because they miss their village churches and societies they belong. They are not happy & cannot wait to be home.
It further read,”so with our fathers & grandfathers. Imo is broken and must be fixed. All hands must be on deck but the State Government should take the lead to peace & unity rather then resort to threats, guns & bullet. Imo shall outlive all of us. I see a new dawn in Imo State where peace, love and unity will reign supreme, where the government & governed will join in a new song “Never Again, Never Again, Never Again Ndi Imo.”
