The Imo State correspondent of The PUNCH newspapers, Chidiebube Okeoma, has called for the arrest of a motorist, Amos Ike, who killed his mother, Eziada Patricia Okeoma.
The journalist in petition on Thursday addressed to the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Berde, contended that the motorist who until Monday was on the run intentionally killed his mother.
Okeoma in the petition sought that the matter be transferred to the state Police Command from the Okigwe area command where a homicide case ought to be handled.
The motorist had on August 24 killed the journalist’s mother on the Owerri – Okigwe Road a few steps away from the deceased’s home.
The petition which was signed by the journalist’s lawyer, Uche Nwoha read” that one Amos Ike on the 24th of August 2023 murdered Mrs. Patricia Okeoma (Mother of our Client) in a cold blood by knocking her down with his RX Lexus vehicle. The deceased was returning from a burial ceremony in her community, when the suspect executed his ritual plan along Okigwe/Owerri Road. The suspect trailed the deceased from the burial place to the point where he knocked her down in a cold blood.
“That the said suspect after achieving his planned elimination of Mrs. Patricia ran away with his vehicle, and never reported to the police.
“That the police in Okigwe arrested him from his hideout, five days after the gruesome murder of Mrs. Patricia.
“That we do not trust the capacity of the Okigwe police to handle a homicide case, hence we humbly demand that the case file be transferred to the homicide section of the CID Owerri for proper investigation of the intentional assassination of Mrs. Patricia Okeoma.”
