Saturday Poll: AIG assumes office, promises hitch- free election in South East

An Assistant Inspector General of Police, Sani Kaoje, who is in charge of elections in South East has assumed office at zone 9 Umuahia with an assurance that this weekend’s elections in the region would be violent free.
A statement issued by the spokesperson of zone 9 command, Bruno Iheanetu, on Friday said that the AIG made the assurance when he visited Imo, Abia and Ebonyi States.
The statement read “The Assistant Inspector General of Police posted to Zone 9 Headquarters, Umuahia AIG Ibrahim Sani Kaoje Psc, mni on the 15/03/2023 embarked on a duty tour at the Ebonyi State Police Command in company of the deputy Inspector General of Police incharge of South East, DIG John Ogbonnaya Amadi and the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police ;CP Falaye E. S Olaleye Psc.
“The AIG who addressed officers at the officer’s Mess charged them to build on the good performance of the Nigeria Police Force in the just concluded February 25, 2023 Presidential /Senate/House of Reps elections. He reminded them of the core duties of the police and the need to be professional in the discharge of their duties.
“The Zonal supervisor moved to the headquarters of the National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) office at Abakaliki to interface with the Resident Electoral Commissioner and upon arrival, Mrs. Pauline Ugochi Onyeka reaffirmed to enjoying robust support and synergy from the police.”
“On 16/03/2023 AIG Ibrahim Sani Kaoje Psc, mni in company of the Abia State Commissioner of Police CP MB Mustapha arrived the Independent National Electoral Commission Headquarters Umuahia on election duty to ensure that all security architecture put in place for a free, fair and credible elections were all intact.
“The Resident Electoral Officer ; Barrister Clement Oha stated that every other thing was going on fine at the moment while he thanked the police for their continuous support.
“Furthermore, AIG Ibrahim Sani Kaoje Psc, mni visited the Independent National Electoral Commission Headquarters in Owerri to ensure that any challenge the commission could face security wise in the upcoming election is nipped in the bud before the March 18/2023 Gubernatorial /House of Assembly Election.
“He arrived in company of CP Mohammed Barde, the Imo State Commissioner of Police and upon arrival at the INEC Headquarters,Owerri Prof. Sylvia U. Agụ who is the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Imo State highlighted the commission’s need to ensure voting takes place in certain areas where it never did during the presidential /National Assembly elections due to volatility of the places and the need for adequate security to police its staff ,material and the electorate.
“The police Chief assured her of the unflinching resolve by the force to enforce its core mandate and promised her more support.
