Senator Anyanwu’s mother, Virginia Anyanwu bags Catholic Award of “Odi Uko N’mba”

Chief (Mrs) Virginia Anyanwu has been honoured with the most prestigious “Odi Uko n’mba” Award by St. Columba’s Catholic Church, Amaimo

The award was bestowed on her by St. Columba’s Catholic Church, Amaimo in Ikeduru LGA of Imo state.

Mrs. Anyanwu is the mother of the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu popularly known as “Samdaddy”.

Speaking, the parish priest Rev. Fr. Joseph Enyiaka stated that the award was in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the church and humanity.

Rev Fr. Enyiaka maintained that Mrs. Anyanwu has in many ways assisted the women, youths and the church at large in realizing their programmes, and called on other women to emulate her.

“Mrs. Anyanwu has shown reasonable commitment to the service of God and humanity. Her generosity to mankind and the church in general cannot be quantified with anything. We are honoring her today as part of our values to appreciate outstanding parishioners.”

“Today, the entire Catholic family is recognizing not only her goodwill, dedication and forthrightness, but her passion to uplift the society, the church and the less privileged. Our prayer is that God will sustain her life to continue to function actively in His vineyard”.

Receiving the award, Mrs. Anyanwu thanked the church for identifying her out of the numerous parishioners for recognition, and promised to sustain the dignity and sacredness of the prestigious award.

Expressing delight, National Secretary of PDP and son to the awardee, Senator Samuel Anyanwu appreciated the Catholic family for finding his mother worthy of recognition.

According to him, “the best award any person can receive in life is the one from the House of God. I am convinced that this award will spur my mother to do more in uplifting the church and the society where she invests more”

The PDP National Scribe further encourages everyone to ceaselessly invest in God’s vineyard, adding that such investment carries the best reward.

Dignitaries in attendance include Evang. Myke Ikeokwu, Hon Geoffrey Ihemtuge (Ikeduru PDP Chairman), Hon. Jones Onyeriri, Hon George Igbo, Barr Uche Igbokwe (PDP Chairman, Owerri Zone), and Sir Basil Maduka.

Others include, Dr. Osmond Ukanacho, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozuruigbo, Chief Chidi Ibe, Prof Protus Nathan Uzoma, Hon Amaefule Basil, Hon Jerry Ogoke and Chief Jude Opara (Shapume) among others.
