Abuja, April 20 (Newshour.com.ng) – The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has presented certificates of return to members of national assembly-elect who were elected in the April 15 supplementary elections which held in different constituencies across the country.
The headquarters of the commission in Abuja was a beehive of activites as members of Senate and House of Representatives-elect who emerged at the last weekend’s supplementary elections across the country came to collect their certificates of return.
Some members of Federal House of Representatives from the South East that spoke with the ABS, made projections as to what their activities in the tenth National Assembly will be.
For the House of Representatives elect for Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Honourable Afam Ogene, he would ensure effective and proper representation of his constituency in all aspects.
According to him, even though people’s minds often go to infrastructure, bills and motions once representation is mentioned, the people must be alive first to enjoy the dividends of democracy; hence he would strive to ensure peace and unity in the Federal Constituency to bring about the much desired unity because without unity and peace one cannot achieve development.
On his part, the member-elect for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, Hon. Akarachi Amadi, promised to always submit himself for scrutiny so as to be accountable to the people as they had given him the power to represent them.
He, therefore, promised to use the power of the people for their benefit by giving them fair and effective representation through promotion of people oriented bills and motions in the tenth National Assembly.
The 28-year old Akarachi Amadi who clinched the position at his first shot at politics was full of praises for the not too young to run bill which he said facilitated his qualification to aspire to run in the 2023 general elections in the first instance.
