The  problem with SAM DADDY and  group in  Imo PDP …As Atiku/Okowa back Ihedioha

By Desmond T Ugwumba

An Igbo adage says that when the ear refuses to render advisory services to the head, when the head will be cut off: the ear will equally go with it. The politicians of PDP extraction who colluded with the government of Sen Hope Uzodinma to forment troubles in Imo PDP just because of the proposed 2027 Hope Uzodinma backed governorship ambition of Sam Daddy should be ashamed of themselves.

It has become apparent that the only political stratagems being employed by Senator Samuel Anyanwu to win the forthcoming PDP governorship primary are vicious propaganda, instigation of fear by going physical in political meetings and noise making. Apart from these, the Amaimo born politician is not in the race.

At the Imo PDP presidential rally held on 17th of December, the Sam Daddy’s group of noise makers led by Pastor Onwumere was conspicuously irritating to the smooth running of programmes that at each point, they kept on shouting Yes Sam Daddy to consciously disrupt the programme and perhaps cause trouble so that the PDP national leadership would notice that there is trouble in Imo PDP.

It would be recalled that before the rally and botched inauguration of Imo state presidential campaign council in November, the Sam Daddy’s group that was led by Evangelist Mike Ikoku disrupted the meeting of Imo PDP leaders that was held at the state headquarters just to include Hon Greg Egu as the DG of Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign council in Imo state. It is not out  of place to agitate for interest in politics but it is overboard to throw caution in the wind and go physical in a political family meeting.

The Presidential campaign rally held at Ndubusi Kanu square on 17th December was a huge success for the genuine members of Imo PDP but there are some salient questions that need answers from Hon Greg Egu whose sole interest was seemingly to be in charge of fund than mobilisation, demobilisation of party faithful and the real deal of ensuring that Atiku Abubakar wins in Imo state. There were some challenges posed by Hon Greg Egu in the preparation of the PDP presidential campaign but with the wisdom of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and other notable leaders of the party certain issues were laid to rest for the main  time.

Specifically, at Oxygen hotels where Hon Greg Egu lodged against the preparation of the presidential campaign, some party chieftains and LGA cordinators of the campaign team went physical when the logistics meant for the campaign was not properly disbursed. Some state committee members of the presidential campaign council who are not known members of Divine Mandate Group were abruptly shortchanged.

The maturity exhibited by individual politicians at the last minutes to ensure that the presidential rally was a huge success is commendable against the backdrop of Hon Greg Egu’s irritating behaviour towards the hierarchy, protocol and smooth running of the party and campaigns .

In the same vein, Imo PDP members at chapters and electoral wards should be commended for their loyalty, love and passion for the party as most of them were not demobilised at the rally ground for the fact that Hon Greg Egu allegedly disappeared with their supposed logistics for demobilisation at the eve of the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign rally in Owerri.

The former Vice president and the incoming president of Nigeria, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar at the rally made it obvious that Ihedioha is coming as he urged Imo people to be ready to vote Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha and PDP again in Imo state. All the antics and desperate activities of the Sam Daddy and group are making in the state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party will never stop the winning of Atiku Abubakar/ Ifeanyichukwu Okowa on 25th February 2023 and the winning of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha is assured.
