May 2 (Newshour.com.ng) – The Head of Service, Imo state, Sir Raymond Ucheoma has appreciated Governor Hope Uzodinma for the double promotions and other welfare packages he gave to Imo civil servants.
He stated this while addressing Newsmen during the Imo workers Day celebration on Monday at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kalu Square.
Chief Ucheoma enumerated the various welfare packages which the governor magnanimously gave to Imo workers recently which include among others, 13 months salaries, double promotions, free transportation, free medical services etc and described the governor as a very caring personality. He assured Imo workers that the governor will fulfill all the promises he made to them and urged them to continue in their support for the government of Imo state as he would deliver the dividends of democracy to all.
Governor Hope Uzodinma in his address said Imo workers are partners in the governance of Imo state and must not be treated with levity. He promised to pay up the arrears owed civil servants and pensioners, and to clear up all arrears of gratuities owed pensioners since 2007 till date. He lamented the ugly way the politicians in Imo state are igniting crisis among the civil servants and creating divisions here and there for their own selfish interest and assured them that no evil man will rule Imo state again.
Governor Uzodinma noted that insecurity is the handwork of disgruntled elements and politicians adding that he is making frantic efforts towards ending insecurity by paying allowances to some federal agencies incharge of security and promised that the battle is almost coming to an end.
The special Adviser to the governor on labour matters, Comrade Austin Chilakpu thanked Governor Hope Uzodinma for the various laudable welfare packages he gave to Imo workers and gave him an award of honour through the elders in Imo state.
The chairman Joint negotiating council of the organized labour union, Sir Comrade Basil Iwu commended Governor Hope Uzodinma for prompt payments of salaries and other welfare packages which the governor gave to Imo workers. He exonerated the governor from the allegations of sacking of Imo workers and nonpayment of salaries to 11000 eleven thousand workers stressing that it is falsehood from the pit of hell. He urged governor Uzodinma to pay them all the check off dues accruing to labour unions and other benefits to enable them take care of their staff and other challenges in the unions.
The high point of the event was the adoption of Governor Hope Uzodinma as their soul candidate for the upcoming governorship Elections in November this year.
